Write telephony applications quickly and easily with our REST API

If you know your way around writing code for websites, then you’ll have no trouble in getting to know our REST API. We currently offer a range of telephony functionalities, including placing and answering voice calls, playing and recording audio, speaking with text-to-speech, capturing telephone keypad entry, menus and conference calls.

With the REST API, your applications run on your web server, returning JSON strings to control the telephony call flow. We offer thin language wrappers for .NET (C#, VB), Python, Java, PHP and Ruby. This option allows you to write applications quickly and easily in the web server environment, using the language you choose.

Alternatively, we have a UAS API. You install a piece of software called the user application server (UAS) on your machine and your applications run within that UAS. We offer UASs for the .NET languages (C#, VB, F# and C++), Python and Java. This option allows you to write high-level applications, but gives you finer control than the REST API.

You get a choice of which API to use when you create a new service so you can choose the most appropriate for your service. More information including code samples and a quick start guide can be found here:
